FR L’Osteria GmbH proudly presents its first, long-awaited outlet in the Netherlands – established with great care and a love of detail in Amsterdam’s lush south-eastern Korte Ouderkerkerdijk district. The Italian restaurant, known simply as “L’Osteria” (Italian for “tavern”), is located right on the shores of the Amstel River between Park Somerlust, Sportpark Drieburg, the “De Mirandabad” public swimming pool, and the Amstel Business Park. The historic, detached building boasts an outstanding internal kitchen and a beautiful outdoor area with views of the Amstel and fast access to transport. L’Osteria Amsterdam is easily reached by car via the S111 and via public transport, e.g. the Amstelstation stop located within walking distance. As in every L’Osteria, the ambience is not one of Italian kitsch, but rather of lively, urban hustle and bustle, with authentically Italian aspects added where appropriate. Whether it be with a large group of friends, your loved ones, the whole famiglia or work colleagues for a business lunch, L`Osteria Amsterdam is open to anyone wanting to indulge in the “very best service” in a casual setting.
The focus of daily restaurant operations is clearly on the oversize “very best pizza”, which is always prepared based on its Italian counterpart. From the opening of the flour sack to the baking of the pizza, everything here is done on site the traditional way – by hand – using premium, selected products sourced from Italy wherever possible. The result is hugely popular among young and old alike: A crispy golden crust with wafer-thin base and tasty topping made from fresh ingredients. A pizza just like you get in Italy! Tip: Don’t be intimidated by the pizza’s huge 45-cm diameter. You don’t have to gorge yourself. You’re more than welcome to share it among two people, one half with one topping and the other half with another topping, and ask the waitstaff to serve it to you on two separate plates. But the L’Osteria Amsterdam doesn’t just serve XXL pizzas; it also offers homemade pasta d’amore, antipasti, insalata and dolci – also available as takeaway of course. And incidentally, the open kitchen we affectionately call the CUCINA enables you to not only taste our meticulous preparations, but also watch them being made. It’s worth popping in sometime for an aperitif, cappuccino or espresso, to witness the hustle and bustle or even sit and read the newspaper amongst it all. Got kids with you? Perfetto! Like all Italians, we love big families. We have highchairs and crayons for the bambini, and offer lots of dishes in kids’ sizes too. And if your four-legged friend is coming along as well, we’ll be glad to give him or her some fresh water at the dog bar – well-behaved dogs are allowed at the L’Osteria Amsterdam.
